Students Should Think Before They Post!
Jon Gruden, former head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders in the NFL, sent emails containing misogynistic, racist, and inappropriate language to a former Washington team president Bruce Allen and because of those emails he had to resign as Las Vegas Raiders head coach.
So what can students do to avoid situations like this in the future?
”Number one you have to educate students about what works in a professional setting, what not to say in an interview, and what not to put in emails,” head football coach Ty Hardin said.
Hardin says that students should be careful about anything that can be documented either through copies of the emails, texts, social media posts, etc. themselves or through screenshots.
What do students think they need to do to make smarter choices for themselves?
“The most important thing we could do right now is to determine whether or not we’re in the right group because you need to know who your real friends are. We should be careful what we put on all social media platforms and ask ourselves a few questions before we click that post button. Will this affect people or will this affect me personally whether the results show up in the future or not?” Madison Shannon said.
