Required Readings You Should Read Again
In the eighth grade, we were required to read the book Night and my teacher decided to read it to us in class for a duration of two weeks and a half. I enjoyed the book so much that I rarely waited the next day to read the next chapter. I recently revisited the book a few weeks ago because of how much I enjoyed it the first time.
The book Night by Elie Wiesel depicts the author’s younger life with his father when he and his family were taken from their home and moved into the infamous concentration camp Auschwitz. The book also highlights the atrocious circumstances that the victims went through. While that seems like it would give the reader no hope, Wiesel still managed to give the people a sense of hopefulness.
Jewish people were the main target but others were also persecuted depending on their ethnicity, religion, political beliefs, and sexual orientation.
While the plot is depressing, the book is outstanding. The story is anxious and makes you very thankful for every little thing that you take advantage of every day.
I love this book because of how distinctive and emotional it is. The book really pulls you in and does not let go. Although the autobiography is a required reading I highly recommend taking your time to read it.
