Ms Prince CTE Teach Of The Year
AM: How long have you been teaching?
BP: I’ve been teaching at Tupelo High School for 12 years and for 10 of those I have been a career tech teacher.
AM: What subject do you currently teach and what subjects have you previously taught?
BP: Right now I teach business market and finance, a two-year career class, and, in my first years at Tupelo, I taught some photo and video editing classes.
AM: What traits do you think are essential when becoming a teacher?
BP: I think you should just be self-motivated because there will be moments when you have to get things accomplished without someone sitting over, I also think you need to be engaging and approachable as well.
AM: Has teaching always been your dream job?
BP: Surprisingly yes, although that is not always true for some people, ever since I was in high school I’ve known, it was just a matter of finding which subject I wanted to teach.
AM: Have you won any other awards?
BP: I have been selected as a Tupelo career tech teacher two other times and in my role as a DECA advisor I have received DECA advisor of the year a couple of times.
