XC Takes on State Championship
It’s that time of the year again! Tupelo Golden Wave Cross Country competed in the State Championship on Wednesday, November 9. It has been a successful year for the Golden Wave, and the results continued on Wednesday.
The first race of the day was the 6A Girls, in which Tupelo placed 5th overall. On the individual side, sophomore Brookelyn Morgan finished in 2nd place in the race. Morgan is no stranger to being on the podium as she finished in the top 3 in over half of her races this year.
In the boys race, Tupelo runners had a big day, placing 2nd overall as a team. Senior Jaheim Bridges finished runner up and sophomore Taylor Brown came in right behind him taking home the bronze. In just his second varsity race, 8th grader Andrew Brown came in 5th place to round out one of the best placing trios in Mississippi history.
“My team went out with a bang, that made it something to remember,” Bridges said.
Bridges looks forward to the Garmin RunningLane cross country nationals and track season in the spring. Tupelo looks to ride the rising wave of this season into track this spring.
