MHSAA Division Track Meet

On Friday, April 14, 2023, the Tupelo Golden Wave Track and Field team had their MHSAA Division 1-6A 2023 meet and the results were impressive. There was real competition, but Tupelo held their own on the THS track.       

There were multiple records broken, PRs, and extraordinary talent displayed. Sophomore Brooklyn Morgan ranked 1st place overall in girls 3200 meter run finals, and 7th grader Carrie Ann Brown took 2nd place overall in the first heat.

“Honestly, it makes you feel like it was so easy that you want to go do it again. So that’s good with having a race after it because it just  makes you more confident.” Brown said.

In the boys long jump finals, Iverson Mccoy placed 2nd overall with a score of 21-10.75. After that, triple jumper Ty Spicer jumped a 43-05.50, ranking himself 2nd place overall.

In the 400 meter dash, senior Zech Pratt Jr placed 2nd place, and Jacobe Jones placed 4th overall with a time of 51.49.

In the 800 meter run finals, top runner Jaheim Bridges shut down the event running a 2:01 and coming in 1st place overall.

Senior Ganea McAllister ranked 3rd in the 400 meter dash and Lauren Atterberry ranked 5th in the 100 meter dash. Aaliyah Cooper ran and jumped the 100 meter hurdles and came 1st, good job Aaliyah!!

The meet was a big success for all the athletes. With all the love and support from the coaches and staff, they were able to come through and represent Tupelo High School.
