Course Selection Q&A

What is the importance of choosing next year’s courses?

Mrs. Rogers: It’s important to review course choices carefully while considering what a student may be interested in regarding a career choice. Many students will not know exactly, but usually they will know what they don’t enjoy and we can go from there. It’s important to try and get them on the path for success based on their abilities and interest. This also helps THS know which classes and how many we will need to offer the following year.

What part do you play in selecting next year’s courses?

Mrs. Rogers: I review students course history to ensure they are on track to meet basic graduation requirements; as well as review the potential graduation endorsements they may be eligible for. I discuss past grades and specific post secondary interest so that we can move forward in choosing the correct classes for the following school year.

What advice do you have for students who are trying to decide what classes to take?

Mrs. Rogers: Think about where your interest are-review degree sheets from colleges and see what fits you the best. Explore different avenues such as our career and technical classes. Try to gain exposure to classes you will need in college as well as gain any college hours that you may qualify for at THS if that’s what fits the path for you!
