Fashion trends at Tupelo High School have always been on the crazy side. Like last year a lot of girls were wearing patterned leggings, which I must say are the ugliest things I have seen in my life, but that’s what some people like so there’s no reason to knock down their style.

The craze that girls are in this year is chokers. Chokers are a close fitted necklace worn on the neck. A lot of girls are wearing these and honestly I feel they aren’t meant to be worn every day. It’s not the type of necklace you can wear every day and will get nice comments on it. It’s the type of necklace that will either bring positive or negative attention to yourself. It just really depends on who you are as a person.

Guys, on the other hand, have always stuck to the same type of style, but they just change the brand of the things they may wear. Last school year it was all about Polo, but this year the guys are into Vineyard Vines, Southern Marsh and a lot of other preppy-type clothes. I honestly have no problem with how guys at THS dress. It just confuses me at times because they all wear the same thing so sometimes you get confused about who you’re talking to because they most likely will be wearing a type of shirt another friend has on. And I’m not trying to say that all guys at THS dress the same, but about half of them do.

I’m not trying to discredit anyone’s clothing style, but I feel that these kids need to differentiate from one another. I feel once someone discovers something new everyone wants to hop on it because that one person looks good in it. People need to learn that just because it looks good on someone else doesn’t mean it’ll look good on you. That’s one of the reasons why I dress so differently than others. I like to be noticed. If I wear the same thing as all of the other guys, how would I stand out from any of them? I dress in a way that is comfortable to me and fits my body. The one brand that I feel guys should get into is Stussy. Also it’s not as expensive as Polo and other brands. It has a large variety of choice that are very appealing and hip. Another brand I like a lot is Junk Food. Junk Food has rad, cool shirts of movies, TV shows, sports and basically anything you want. It’s also very cheap and comfortable to wear.

Overall, I feel the trends this year are better than last but I hope when the weather changes they will die out and find something new, because I’m tired of getting all these people mixed up.
