Meet Kinslee Carter, a member of the swim and volleyball team who loves to spend time with her friends and practice her sport. Student-athletes go through many struggles balancing academics and sports but Kinslee has her journey. Everyone always wants to know what inspires athletes to get into their sport and work hard for it.
“Senior libero, Miracle Hereford. I saw her playback when I was younger and she was in middle school. And when I got up to middle school I thought about her. So I started playing”
Balancing grades is a big part of being a student-athlete and it’s not always easy keeping track of everything, she’s overcome obstacles to become a better student-athlete overall.
“first semester, we did leave a lot. So in my math class. My grades started to drop but over time, I kind of got with my teacher and talked things over and we got my grade up,” Carter said.
Aside from sports getting to know Carter’s favorite activities and pastimes is a big part of getting to know someone.
“One activity I like to do is my hair even if it doesn’t count but it keeps me occupied and it’s fun even though it can get frustrating at times.”
Carter has overcome possible injuries and lack of motivation many times throughout her career as a student-athlete but has overcome the little challenges along the way.
“my first obstacle was probably coming back from COVID to play a rival game and probably my second one will be finding out that my shoulder probably has a tear in it. So, I still played it through it,” Carter said.
