Jay Crump is in 11th grade at Tupelo highschool. He is a junior who describes his motivational saying and plans for the future.
MJ: Who are the important role models in your life? And how do you look to them?
JC: My mom and my big brother I mainly look up to their hustle and their hard work. Whatever they are doing, they are very dedicated to it. And they are loyal and humble. Yeah.
JC: I want to rap. I used to want to get into football. I kind of still do but I feel like it’s a little bit too late. So if rap doesn’t work, I’m gonna go into welding or some form of entrepreneurship.
MJ: It’s great to have role models who inspire us with their dedication and humility. How do you see yourself incorporating those qualities into your own life and pursuits?
JC: I strive to bring the same level of hustle and hard work that my mom and big brother display. They’ve taught me the importance of dedication and staying loyal to my passions. Whether it’s in rap, football, welding, or entrepreneurship, I want to give it my all and stay humble throughout the journey.
MJ: I love your motivational saying, “YOLO, you only live once.” How does this mindset drive you to chase your dreams and make the most out of life?
JC: YOLO reminds me to seize every opportunity and live life to the fullest. It pushes me to take risks, pursue my passion for rap, and explore different paths like welding or entrepreneurship. I want to make the most of my time and leave a lasting impact.
MJ: It’s great to hear about your dreams in rap and football. Even if you feel it might be late to pursue football, have you considered how the skills and discipline you’ve gained from your interest in sports could benefit your journey in rap or other endeavors?
JC: The skills I’ve developed through my love for football, like discipline, teamwork, and perseverance, can be applied to any aspect of life. They will undoubtedly play a valuable role in my pursuit of a career in rap or even in the world of entrepreneurship. It’s all about taking what I’ve learned and applying it to new challenges.
