TUPELO – Tupelo High football returns to the gridiron with a clash against out-of-state foe Whitehaven to begin year 5 under head coach Ty Hardin. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. CT on Friday, August 30th on the Blue Turf at Renasant Stadium.

Last Year’s Game
Looking back to this game last year, the Golden Wave forced 4 turnovers in a 37-0 thrashing of the Tigers. Tupelo intercepted a pass on the first play from scrimmage and rode the momentum for the rest of the night. Running Back Jaeden Hill ran for 56 yards and 2 TDs on eight carries, while QB Jeremiah Harrell passed for 100 yds and 2 touchdowns. Leading 7-0 after 12 minutes of game time, THS posted a 30-point 2nd quarter to lead 37-0 at the break. With a running clock initiated to start the second half, the Golden Wave made quick work of their week one opponent. It was the second year in a row that Tupelo has won the opening game with a shutout (34-0 vs Lafayette in ‘22).
