At Tupelo High School, Liv Gillean is much more than a senior student—she’s a passionate performer, a dedicated friend, and a leader in her show choir, Synergy. Her love for singing and dancing, cultivated over six years, has made her a cornerstone of the group, known for her dynamic stage presence and heartfelt dedication to the craft.
“I’ve always had a passion to sing and dance,” Liv says. “This is my sixth and sadly last year in show choir.” While her Synergy journey is coming to a close, her impact on the group is undeniable, both in and out of the spotlight.
Outside of school, Liv channels her energy into her church, The Orchard, where she volunteers on Sundays and occasionally sings on Wednesday nights. This balance of faith and creativity has shaped her into someone who values connections. “I thrive off of positive attitudes and love being able to share laughs with others,” she says, emphasizing the importance of relationships in her life.
One of the most surprising things about Liv is the transformation she undergoes on stage. “I’ve had multiple people tell me that I look and act like a different person when I perform,” she reveals. It’s a testament to her ability to channel her energy into captivating performances, leaving audiences amazed.
Within Synergy, traditions like “Steve,” the lucky duck passed down to an upcoming senior, hold a special place in Liv’s heart. As Steve’s current keeper, she ensures the entire group touches the duck before every competition—a small but meaningful ritual that unites them.
Her favorite memory? Winning best vocals as a freshman. “That was a big year for us, and winning best vocals was unexpected and very rewarding,” Liv recalls. That moment encapsulates the spirit of Synergy: hard work pays off in ways that bring joy and pride to the whole team.
Guided by the wisdom of teachers like Mrs. Frerer, whose motto, “Faith without works is dead,” resonates deeply with her, Liv is ready to face the future with the same passion and dedication she’s poured into Synergy.
As graduation approaches, Liv reflects on her journey with gratitude. “The best part about Synergy is the friendships and memories made throughout the season. We spend so much time together, sharing good and bad experiences, but it all brings us close.”
For Liv Gillean, Synergy isn’t just a show choir; it’s a family, and she leaves behind a legacy of hard work, tradition, and joy.
