The people of THS have many different ways of expressing themselves,typically through music,clothing,but some through art.Art lives in many different things: houses,buildings,clothing,makeup,but mostly our whole world consists of art.
When it comes to art it can be conveyed in many different categories such as Interior fashion designing,ceramics,clothing designers,and much more.Its important to the students,the adults,the teachers that see these subjects as future careers,the people who want to get into doing these things,But mainly art and interior design is in everything you see houses,schools,bathroom,doctor offices,and like mentioned before it’s even in the clothes we wear.So I believe that most people care tremendously,especially in current time people are getting more into fashion with adding all kinds of new,fun accessories to their hair,shoes,and clothing,and by doing this it gives each student a different personality,which is such an inspiring thing to see.Overall art is a big part of our world and the people.
“I think it’s important for people to be able to create,and express themselves through art.” Mrs. Enis Has been teaching in this field for over 10 years,she has seen many creative minded students,and has been able to show others that they are also just as capable,she says,“We have some very,very talented students here at Tupelo High School,and some people don’t even know that they’re good at art.So that’s why I believe it’s important.” -Interior Fashion Design Teacher,Mrs. Enis
In Addition to Mrs. Enis,the next is a student who is a freshman here at Tupelo High School.She says Art is a way for her to express herself which she discovered at the age of seven. She enjoys art as a form of self-expression and finds the process generally challenging.
“I started out when I was like seven, and I just used to watch like doodle drawing videos and that’s what made me start liking drawing.” Her passion for art started young,when doing art for her she finds it rather peaceful then challenging.She likes art because,” it just gives me a way to express myself when I feel upset or just any other time.” -Freshman,Kayla Hendricks
In Comparison to Kayla Hendricks,The next student is also a freshman here at Tupelo High School. Unlike Kayla She mentions that before she didn’t enjoy doing art.Her mom pushed her to start doing it,and that’s what started her interest in this field.
“So first, I didn’t really like art, but my mom, she put me in art classes, and it made me realize that there is so much you could do with art,and like the colors and stuff.” I thought her perspective towards art changing was interesting,and just goes to show how art can make up a person.Towards the end of our interaction she shares this message with others, “if you don’t like it? I just feel like you should take a class first and you’ll realize that there’s so much in it that you thought you didn’t like that you actually would.”- Freshman,Khole Grace
Next Is an Junior here at Tupelo High School,Pieces Coleman, When she first started she didn’t really look forward to it.She only took the class for the credits,but soon ceramics became a free place for her to express the things she enjoys.she values art for its ability to bring out creativity in people and praises his ceramics teacher, Miss Parker, for her motivational and supportive role in the class.
“Art, kind of like, brings out the most in people. It really shows you what you can do, like everything,and how creative you are. Once you just put your hands to it, I promise you.”She thinks it’s important to notice the art in what people do.Though she loves ceramics,she gives props to her teacher Mrs.Parker for making her experience exciting.she says “I’m gonna probably say the best thing over the whole classroom is the ceramics teacher, Miss Parker, is literally the best woman ever. She’s like a motivational speaker, she could be your best friend. She’s very helpful, and you can really come to her about anything.” -Junior,Pieces Coleman
Lastly,a Professional Interior Fashion Designer here in Tupelo,Lauren Holland.For her when it comes to interior fashion she focuses more on the people rather than the work.She wants a person who is compatible,understanding,detail oriented. I thought it was interesting how she focused on the people and then work based on that.
“I think knowledge comes with experience and with that you know what’s possible on the construction side,so you can guide your clients with what is reasonable or possible and if it meets their expectations or goals.” She works based off what her clients are into,and helps then find what they are most comfortable with,though she thinks it’s important to put the clients first,she also thing the workers play a big part in it as well,she says “most important traits for an interior designer are someone that works well with others,listens and understands the needs of clients and can deliver what the clients wants,also someone who is very detail oriented.There are a lot of moving parts and coordination required with the building and designing process.” – Professional Interior Designer,Lauren Holland
