Charlie Pugh is a senior at THS who is involved in band and structure; outside of school, he also plays music for his church. He is proficient in the trumpet, piano, and guitar. Balancing band commitments with other activities can be challenging, but he handles it well. He enjoys the social aspect of going out to eat with his peers after performances. Despite attempts, he hasn’t succeeded in creating his own music. He was inspired to join Structure by friends who had positive experiences and growth as musicians in it.
[WM]: What are you involved in at THS?
[CP]: So I’m involved in band and structure.
[WM]: Are you involved in anything outside of THS?
[CP]: I play music for my for my church. That’s pretty much it.
[WM]: What instruments do you all play?
[CP]: I play trumpet, piano, and a little bit of guitar.
[WM]: How do you balance band and structure?
[CP]: It can be hard. Sometimes, you have to miss one rehearsal for another, and vice versa. But like, it worked.
[WM]: What’s your favorite memory instruction?
[CP]: Probably going out to eat with everybody after a performance.
[WM]: Do you create any of your own music?
[CP]: I’ve tried, but I’ve never really been successful doing that.
[WM]: What inspired you to join structure?
[CP]: My friends joined it the year before I joined it; I saw how much fun they had with it and how they grew as musicians, so I thought I’d be able to.
