The Tupelo High School bowling team has built a strong reputation of consistent skill and determination throughout the years. The team’s members work diligently to improve their skills, working hard to improve their talent while also managing to balance academics. With a mix of seasoned players and newcomers, they work together as a team to exemplify true dedication and love.
Being a sport that heavily relies on consistent accuracy, it can often be taxing to remain calm during tense matches. During this time, the team has multiple strategies to keep themselves steady.
“It really helps if the vibe is lighter, so if you’re cheering on your teammates, it’s easier to focus. Consistency is all bowling really is.” Commented Kaiden Donaldson (12).
One way to keep teammates relaxed is preparation. To prepare for upcoming matches, the bowling team has their ways to keep vibes high.
“Put on a good song, stay out of your head, focus, and just lock in on your spot.” Tai Bedford (11) said.
For a team and its individual members, there’s always room for improvement. As a result, the bowling team often looks for ways to enhance their skills. Each member has something they believe they want to improve on, and strive to do so in upcoming seasons.
“I also need to stay out of my head, and overall improve my consistency.” Added Bedford.
With its fair share of highs and lows, there are countless moments in Tupelo’s bowling team that are significant to its members. Whether it’s in matches
or outside events for the team, it will hold significant places in their hearts.
“Regionals was a really good time for the team.” Commented Kenny Chambers.
While Tai Bedford focused more on the more personal aspects of the team. “Our most memorable moments are probably our Christmas parties which are also our senior nights. We just play as a team.”
As with any new experience, young athletes may hesitate to try out for the bowling team due to nerves finding the best of them. However, experienced bowling members have advice for those students interested in pursuing bowling.
“Have fun with it. Bowling is casual, not that it’s easy, but it’s easy to get into. It’s a fun sport, so you should join it.” Tai Bedford said.
