For many players, varsity basketball is more than just a sport—it’s a brotherhood built on trust, teamwork, and determination, driving them to succeed together both on and off the court in a season filled with hard-fought wins.
It being Trace Sanders’ first year as a senior on varsity, he appreciated the leadership the other team members showed him.
“The leadership is really good. Like people in the locker room, they talk, they communicate, when adjustments need to be made. That’s probably pretty good leadership.” Sanders says
Sanders explains that he’s more of a follower, but he can take the leadership role if needed.
“I consider myself more of a take the advice and kind of apply it on the court, but if needed, I can, you know, step up and say what needs to be said,” Sanders said
Jay Fields, a junior considered valuable on the court, shares his thoughts on the season.
“The season has been going good. We started off bad, but we got it together, and we went on a winning streak.” Fields said
“We beat bigger teams [this year]. We beat the top two of the top five teams in the state, and we got to win the record this year.” Fields said
Coach Green gives his thoughts on the overall season and how the team played
“The 2024 2025 basketball season has been good and bad. We’ve had some great games and great moments in games, and we’ve also had some bad games and bad moments in games. So, still not over. We think we are still on the up and up, so right now I’m holding tight. So overall, I feel pretty good about it.” Green said
Varsity basketball is a place where the noise of everyday life quiets down, and the passion for the game takes center stage.
