“There is no way to truly describe Ashton, but he is a gift to many,” journalism teacher Shari Chumley said. “He came to me in his sophomore year and asked me if he could borrow one of my cameras because he wanted to take pictures of volleyball. Usually, we don’t do that. He was in a digital media class, so I let him take my license test, the camera test. And after that, he took pictures that whole year for different sports. The next year, his junior year, he really grew his business; he took feedback really well. He won the top journalist award and made the all-Mississippi journalist team, which is really rare for someone who is solely a photographer; his graphics are amazing.”
