The Golden Wave fell to No. 1 South Panola Oct. 16 in its eighth game of the season, with the score of 35-0.

South Panola scored first with a short punt return with 6:45 left in the first quarter. The Tigers scored again with 4:25 left, making the score 14-0. Tupelo’s defense forced three South Panola punts, but its offense struggled. The Tigers claimed one more TD in the first half with 37 seconds left before half time. The half ended with the Wave trailing 21-0 and only having 1 first down, while South Panola had 9.

After half time, South Panola scored again with a 64-yard touchdown with 5:16 left in the third quarter.

Tupelo’s record fell to 3-5. The Golden Wave will host DeSoto Central Oct. 23.
