Tupelo Continues Winning Streak Against Oxford
On September 30, 2022 the Golden Wave played again at Renasant Field, but this time to face off their rival the Oxford Chargers. The Wave surged over the Chargers with a final score of 35-0.
The passing leader during the game was Tupelo quarterback Jeremiah Harrel with a total of 324 yards. At 5:45 in the first quarter, Jeremiah Harrel passes to wide receiver KD Gibson for a Tupelo touchdown making the score 6-0 at the end of the first quarter. Harrel and Gibson scored again at 5:51 in the second quarter. The rushing leader was Qua Middlebrooks with a total of 56 net yards. The Wave attempted and scored on a two point conversion to make the score 14-0. The Wave offense continued to shine after the halftime show that was performed by the Tupelo Marching Band.
The defense was also on fire during the game. The defense held the Chargers forty-seven passing throughout the game. The possession time for the Chargers was 10:49 while the Wave possession was 13:11. The tackle leader for the Wave was defensive end LA Ray.
This was the twentieth meeting between the Chargers and the Wave. The Wave lost the last 4 games to the Chargers. The Wave is now 13-7 against the Chargers. The Wave takes to the highway to face off against the Starkville Yellowjackets on October 7.
