Tupelo Basketball season officially tipped off on October 22, 2022. As of October 20, 2022, Tupelo Boys and Girls Basketball teams were #1 in the preseason rankings.
Key senior players to watch from both boys and girls are Gavin Shannon and Dayveun Anderson for the boys; Mikayla Riley and Peyton Hearvey for the girls.
“I feel good. We keep doing what we’re doing. We’re gonna go to Jackson and get a ring,” Dayveun Sanders said.
Tupelo Boys are looking towards a great year with Gavin Shannon, a 6’7 Small Forward, coming off an average of 12.7 points per game season and Dayveun Anderson a 6’0 Point Guard averaging 11.3 points per game last year.
“I feel that if we execute every game very well nobody can stop us. When we play our best game we have lots of fun,” Anderson said.
Tupelo Girls are looking towards a fresh start with Mikayla Riley a 5’11 Small Forward with a last year’s average of 11.0 points per game, and Peyton Harvey 5’10 Forward with an average of 3.4 points per game.
“I feel that this year is our year, our energy and execution are top-notch, and we have a game plan that is going to make it very hard for teams to beat us,” Riley said.
“This year we have a lot of talent on the team we also have players that are willing to work hard and get the job done,” Harvey said. “My coach once said ‘Hard work beats talent when talent fails to work hard.”
