Tupelo football plays familiar rival Madison Central

Tupelo played at Madison Central this Friday. The Wave won the game 14-12 giving them their first win in 7a divisional play.

Madison Central was up by a field goal but Tupelo’s Quarterback Jeremiah Harrell scored a touchdown with 7 minutes and 12 seconds left in the 2nd quarter to put Tupelo up 7-3. Tupelo scored another touchdown with JJ Hill carrying a handoff putting Tupelo up 14-3 with 7 minutes and 37 seconds left in the 3rd quarter

Madison Central kicked a field goal halfway through the 4th quarter. Tupelo scored another touchdown with JJ Hill carrying a handoff putting Tupelo up 14-3.

Madison scored a touchdown with 22 seconds left in gameplay. Madison Central went for a two-point conversion but it was no good. This solidified the win for the Golden Wave. The defense held Madison Central to only a touchdown and two field goals.

Harrell was the leader in rushing for the game. He averaged 6.4 yards and rushed a total of 64 yards. JQ Witherspoon was the leader in passing and receiving with 22 yards. Tupelo plays next Thursday against Germantown at 7:00. Tristen Jernigan led the defense with 11 tackles. 

Tupelo plays Germantown at home next Thursday at 7:00 p.m.
