Crossing the Continents: St. Lucia and Barcelona

Crossing+the+Continents%3A+St.+Lucia+and+Barcelona

Here are some days from my trips during the fall semester. I went to St. Lucia for my mother’s birthday and I took a trip with my cousin to Barcelona to watch a professional soccer match (FC Barcelona vs. UD Almeria).

St. Lucia-

Day One: My Dad and I went to Pigeon Island to hike the mountain. I drove the boat a little bit. We made it to the top of the mountain and were able to safely make it back down.

Day Two: We had an early morning ceremony for my mother’s birthday. We all took turns saying memories that we had with my mom and wishing her the best after reaching the age of 50. During the afternoon, I spent some time with my cousin doing many watersports activities. The night of my mom’s birthday, we had a party that included speeches, lots of dancing, and good food.

Day Three: We went on a Catamaran and got to snorkel. It was pretty cool that I got to experience this again. Close to the end of the boat ride, our boat anchored at a beach to chill for a bit alongside people from other Catamarans. My cousin and I got to play some soccer with the captain of our boat and the captain of St. Lucia’s national team.

Day Four: As a senior, it was also important that I check out some of the colleges available on the island. Named after national hero, Sir Arthur Lewis, the Sir Arthur Lewis Community College is also home to the Derek Walcott Library and boasts the largest campus in St. Lucia.

Barcelona-

Day one: After taking a nap from the long flight, we walked around the area of Barcelona we were in. We tried some amazing food ranging from tapas foods to paellas and taking in the beautiful scenery around us. We spent the night walking down a boardwalk and riding a Ferris wheel.

Day two: We took a taxi to the Camp Nou museum. Got to see a lot of Barcelona’s history alongside their most prized trophies like the UCL trophy they won in 2015. After a train ride, a taxi, and a walk to our ticket gate, we finally got into the stadium to watch the game. After the game, we ate some good food and enjoyed more scenery before we left the following morning.
