Riptides Spotlight

Riptides+Spotlight

Riptide has had amazing shows and even better memories. And it has connected many people and turned them into a family.

Here are a couple of responses from people in Riptide about their experiences so far for this year’s season.

“My sister was in Riptide, her whole high school year. And she told me it was a lot of fun and was very much like a family. So I decided to give it a try.” Zoey Greer a first-year at Riptide said after getting asked why she decided to join Riptide

A moment lasts only a second but memories live forever.  Let’s highlight one of our riptide member’s most memorable moments that has stood out to her…

“Well, right now I’m section leader. So then last time Riptide last year during Riptide I wasn’t as confident as I was like thinking that, you know, everybody else was better than me. But now I have that confidence and so I play a big leadership role. So it’s just seeing how I’ve matured and how I’ve gotten better in my career.” C’nia Price a junior said.

This year’s riptide show is about how every day we perform for the outer world. We seem to put the facade until the final curtain falls and we just can’t keep up this fake image.  There have been plenty of opinions on this year’s show. Mostly positive.

“Yeah, it’s a good show. It sounds good. Very energetic. crowd-pleasing, clean. Everybody knows the greatest showmen if you’ve seen anything in theaters in the past like five years. So all those aspects are really good. “ Rylee Whitehead a teacher for Riptide said.

Dayton has been a recurring question each year. After months of hard work, riptide has been approved to go. Knox, the director for Riptide, is undoubtedly the most eager to go.

“ I’m super excited about going to Dayton, Ohio with the Riptide indoor percussion group. I went to Dr. Thomas last year and I asked her for her permission to go and I was super excited for her to meet with me and listen to me and learn about what Riptide is about. I wanted to go to Riptide. For the past eight years, I finally feel like we have a group that’s strong enough to go to compete at a national level. And I’m super excited to see how we do. “ Mr. Knox said.

Riptide isn’t that well known in THS but it differently deserves the spotlight. Everyone has been working hard and pushing themselves to be the best version of themselves for this show.
