Becoming a Golden wave: Trevion Terell crossing into Golden Wave territory

Walking through Tupelo High halls you would think Trevion Terell (Tre) was just a friendly, talkative student. But behind his friendly attitude he has many more qualities.

Terell is a member of the Tupelo High school basketball team and is one of the starting five. He transferred to Tupelo from Saltillo this school year; making him a Golden Wave at the start of his junior year.

When asked what he wants to do for his dream career he says “ I want to go to the NBA”.

Many students wonder why Terell chose to move to Tupelo his junior year. “I chose to move to Tupelo because I felt like it would be better for me, and had many more opportunities here,” Terell says.

With basketball being his chosen sport he always wanted to go to the higher level after high school. If he did not make it to the higher level after high school or college, Terell says “I’d major in sports medicine or become an accountant.”

Terell also wants to accomplish some things before leaving high school. He would like to graduate from Tupelo high school with a 4.0 GPA. His biggest goal before graduation is winning a state championship in basketball.

Moving to a different school in the middle of high school can be a hard adjustment but not for Terell because he was a returning student to the Tupelo public school district.

Terell attended Tupelo public school district during elementary and half of middle school, when he moved to Saltillo for 8th-10th grade. When asked if he would ever consider returning to Saltillo he says “I would not prefer to move back to Saltillo, it was a good school, the people there were nice but more opportunities are available here.

Terell says “I love Tupelo, the school is just right and it’s getting me prepared for what I want to do in my career like going to the NBA or majoring in sports medicine or accounting.”
